LAFITTE, LA, July 19, 2005
-- The Caravan company of performers and
technicians have spent the last two months in a developmental workshop for
this new show. On July 30 & 31st, audiences are invited to a
presentation of the work developed in this workshop.
The presentation, a
preview showing of this new work-in-progress, will encompass a medley
of some of the fifteen original songs and selected scenes. The Caravan will
be continuing to develop VANISHING CURRENTS throughout this coming winter while in
residence in Lafitte LA. Next April the Caravan will present the World Premier
of this new work, before embarking on a three year tour of Europe.
VANISHING CURRENTS is a multi-disciplinary show using prose, poetry,
music, dance, aerial circus, video and theatrical lighting on and surrounding
the Caravan's Theatrical venue, a 90 ft Tall Ship. The story is about
the plight of refugees, political dissidents, & exiles who have
arrived on the shores of this country only to be put in a concentration camp
because of their "apparent beliefs and political ideology". The show addresses
the issues of terror and fear, and how it affects some of our
most cherished democratic beliefs and freedoms. |
